Hong Kong and Shanghai Association Limited

The Hong Kong and Shanghai Association Limited, also known as "Shanghai General Association", is a non-profit social organization with a long-standing reputation in Hong Kong. Founded in 1977 by prominent figures from Shanghai and Hong Kong, it was officially registered as a limited company in Hong Kong in 1978. In 1980, it was officially renamed "Hong Kong Shanghai Association Limited". The association currently has over four thousand members, mainly from Shanghai and Zhejiang provinces. It also includes people from other provinces, social elites, and overseas Chinese or foreign nationals. The Association is involved in charitable and educational activities, as well as organizing member events and operating a restaurant.
